Battlefield 3 – Close Quarters: New Maps To Come with Conquest Domination Mode
As we reported earlier, come June Battlefield 3 will be getting a new DLC package with new maps and content. Titled “Close Quarters,” this content package looks like it will bring a lot of intense close range combat action to your living room. There won’t be a rush mode for this DLC. Instead, developer DICE has opted for a revised mode.
Rush was problematic because it is a progressive and large mode that takes you from one M-COM to another. It was simply too big of a mode for the Close Quarters DLC. Instead, DICE looked to modify the Conquest mode so it fits the new environments the DLC brings to the table. The result? A brand spanking new conquest mode dubbed “Conquest Domination”.
This mode was inspired by the Unreal Tournament’s own Domination mode. However, it makes use of the spawn system of “Team Deathmatch”. DICE says that this mode modification, along with a few other tweaks to the gameplay, makes the ever popular conquest game mode tailor fit to smaller maps like the ones delivered by “Close Quarters”. As the DLCs name explicitly says, this downloadable content package is all about close quarter intense fighting and tactics. Additionally, the Conquest Domination mode puts more emphasis on teams protecting flags instead of the standard grab and run gameplay. Indeed, the grab and run mechanics of the Conquest mode is perceived to be its main drawback.
