Resident Evil – Revelations: Yoghurt and Cruise Ship Ads Come with Horrific Twist
I bet you are already tired of all those formulaic video game trailers. While you may be excited about the game being promoted, the trailers can be too much of the same thing. You may want to head on over to France to get a whiff of something completely different.
The Resident Evil – Revelations trailers in France are more than just a little bit odd. The game should be the one odd but we already have some expectations about what we will see and hear from the trailer. We expect a voice over coming from some guy who sounds as if he has been providing his voice for all the video game trailers out there. This is not the case but it sounds like it. We also expect hot in-game graphics, text that seems to be typed into the screen one letter after another and we also hear a final wail, blast or scream before the title appears at the end together with the launch date.
With the French ad for Revelations, things are a little more unexpected. We see French ladies enjoying a moment of bliss or happy expectation. One woman is eating a cup of yoghurt when suddenly everything feels a little strange and the world becomes darker. Another woman is walking about a cruise ship apparently looking for her sweetheart. When she peeps into one cabin, however, she is met with one reddish eye.
But isn’t that what it would be like just before the world suffers an outbreak? There will be people going about their usual routines. They will be eating or courting, oblivious to what is about to come. Yes, it is pretty obvious that we like the French video game trailer for Revelations. They highlight the sudden and world-crumbling change brought about by outbreaks by showing the good life before.
