Nintendo DS: Victim Uses Handheld to Catch Creep in the Act

A 10 year old girl secretly caught a pedophile who was groping her. How did she do it? She used her Nintendo DS to take snapshots of the creep in the act. 46-yea-old John Fisher did not know that the young girl he was victimizing had taken photos of him as he assaulted her. The girl took the picture showing his hand groping her to her mother who promptly contacted police. At first, the alleged child molester denied that he assaulted the girl. He quickly ate his story and admitted to the allegation when he was shown the snapshot taken by the child. This was not the first time he assaulted the child. When she was nine years old, the girl told her mother that Fisher, a “friend” of the family, had touched her. However, no one did anything about the allegation. When Fisher touched her again, 22 months after the first assault, the victim was playing with a Nintendo DSi. She used the handheld to take a snapshot of Fisher in the act. With the aid of the photograph, Fisher was sent to jail for three-and-a-half years.

The case against Fisher was successful even though the photo did not get a picture of his face. The police were able to show that the image was of Fisher by proving that its details featured Fisher’s hand and clothing. Nintendo DSi consoles are equipped with two digital cameras which serve as entry level cameras for younger players to take photos.
