Wow France, just wow. Despite what stereotypes say about the French, their cheese eating habits or military naval prowess you can’t deny that they know how to run an eye catching advertising campaign. The Europeans have taken the tactile versatility of Sony’s new handheld console, the PS Vita, and translated that into a head turning image of a woman with four breasts.

With the tagline “two touchable surfaces, twice the sensation”, the advert is surprising clever considering it features a four breasted woman. The advert is also quite classy, though I doubt they will release an alternative version for those people not attracted to breasts, maybe a double-arsed man or something, that probably wouldn’t sell quite as many units.

French PS Vita Advert (Credit: Sony/ Kotaku)

Sony have been in trouble before for controversial advertising. In July 2006 the company ran a Dutch campaign for it’s then handheld console, the PSP, that featured an Aryan model seemingly subjugating a terrified looking black person with the slogan, “White is coming”. Hopefully this was just an ill-conceived idea and nothing sinister, though it does make you wonder what on earth must have been going through the advertising department’s mind.

2006 PSP Advertising Campaign (Credit: Sony/ Engadget)

Luckily with this latest mammary offering it is quite easy to see what was going through the advertiser’s mind, and what they think is going through the minds of most of their customers. Will you be so easily convinced that the PS Vita is worth your hard-earned money or will you need more persuasion than a headless, four breasted feminoid? Leave your responses in the comment section below.

To fans of the racing genre, it might not come as a complete surprise that Forza 4 has been awarded best racer of the year at this year’s HMV Golden Joystick Awards.

The Golden Joysticks are a popular award ceremony, and the racer beat off tough opposition from EA’s Need for Speed – The Run, which uses the Frostbite 2 engine to great effect, and Eat Sleep Play’s Twisted Metal. More than four million votes were cast at this year’s GJAs leaving the Xbox exclusive title Forza 4 as onf of the champions.

Forza 4 has had a very successful year, especially when you take into consideration the popularity of its arcade style spin-off, Forza 4 – Horizon, and the seemingly endless DLC injections that the original title has received throughout the year.

Forza Motorsport 4 (Credit: Microsoft)

The participation at this years Golden Joystick Awards has been really quite staggering. The total of four million votes smashes the previous record by more than double. Undoubtedly the organisers are pleased, and it is really great to see so much light being shed on the industry in general.

When the Nintendo 3DS came out, I wrote an article expressing my concern that there wouldn’t be enough games made, that utilised the 3D function to justify the expense of the console. Obviously I was completely wrong, and I have since become a lot more guarded – accept when it comes to the PS Vita that is.

Yet another great new game has been released for Nintendo’s unique handheld. Namco Bandai have today brought the epically popular RollerCoaster Tycoon to a whole new dimension. In celebration of this fact the publishers have treated us all to a brand spanking new launch trailer, and I have to say the game is looking really good.

Obviously, one of the most saleable features is the fact that the game is now in 3D, not a feature that can be displayed in a standard Youtube clip, however you do get a pretty decent overview of the treats the game has in store for you. RollerCoaster Tycoon is an IP that really has stood the test of time. I remember very well playing this game in the early 90′s, essentially the game is still the same, only now of course it is a lot more complex. It’s really great to see a developer taking an old IP and applying it to new technology with such success.

Those cheeky fellows over at Activision have teased us all with a clip of the new location Nuketown 2025 in their upcoming Call of Duty title, Call of Duty – Black Ops 2. And when we say clip, we mean clip. The short video lasts just a tantalising 5 seconds. Just enough time to see everything go to Hell in a handcart, as an explosion tears through the scene.

Nuketown is a location that will already be known to fans of the first Black Ops game, however the Nuketown 2025 is a version of the map set in the future. It is probable that the premise will still be the same though, two teams set in a tightmap, and a whole lot of explosions.

The game’s developers, Treyarch, also released a video today teasing the game’s 3D features. I’m honestly not a big fan of 3D which is why I haven’t given the announcement much space in this article, though if you disagree with me, feel free to yell at me in the comment section below.

The nice thing about the Black Ops games, as opposed to the Modern Warfare games is that they don’t take themselves too seriously. Treyarch always seem to want to play around with the maps and find ways of making it really fun. Personally I’ve become really fatigued with the copy and paste – reskinned maps of the Modern Warfare games and I am looking forward to getting to grips with Black Ops 2. I was lucky enough to get a hands-on demo of Call of Duty – Black Ops 2 at Gamescom this year. OK, the game did glitch out on me – but we’ll ignore that for a second – and actually I was pretty impressed by what the game had to offer. The game is out on November 13 on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

For those of us curious to see how 343 Industries will manage the former Bungie lead behemoth Halo series, the intrigue has just got even more intense. Speaking to Polygon, Microsoft Studios lead, Phil Spencer has revealed that Halo 4 is Microsoft’s most expensive game, of all time. Wow, just wow.

According to Spencer, the project has cost Microsoft around 3 billion dollars. This figure may seem surprisingly high but the Halo series is a very important product for Microsoft. In fact, Phil Spencer described Halo as the most important entertainment product for the company. According to Spencer no other project has ever come close to costing as much as this installment of the Halo series.

Screenshot from Halo 4 (Credit: 343 Industries)

So what exactly have 343 Industries been jamming into the game to make it cost so much more? We are desperate to find out. Luckily we only have to wait until November 6th to find out, when the game is released. We’ve all had our copies on pre-order for months anyway. The footage that we’ve seen so far is looking really good, but the question still remains of whether or not 343 can successfully take over the project from Bungie, keeping in all the elements that have made Halo so popular, but at the same time adding their own mark.

Let us know what you think of Halo 4 in the comment section below.

For those interested in the new offering from Nintendo, it may interest you to know, that according to a statement today released by the Japanese industry giants as revealed that the game changing console, the Wii U, will actually be retailing at a loss for the company from launch.

The announcement comes in an investor briefing and is partly in response to yesterday’s revelation that the company’s annual net profit has been reduced. Selling hardware at a loss has become a staple practise of Nintendo of late. The handheld console, the 3DS, was also sold from launch at a loss, however this is no longer the case.

CEO and President of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, said in a statement to the company’s investors today:

“In addition to the yen’s continuous appreciation, the Wii U hardware will have a negative impact on Nintendo’s profits early after the launch because rather than determining a price based on its manufacturing cost, we selected one that consumers would consider to be reasonable. In this first half of the term before the launch of the Wii U, we were not able to make a profit on software for the system while we had to book a loss on the hardware, which is currently in production and will be sold below cost. Our loss has therefore widened during the second quarter in spite of bringing the Nintendo 3DS hardware back to profitability. Although we expect our financial performance to be revitalized, under these circumstances, unfortunately we cannot say that we will achieve “Nintendo-like” profits within this fiscal year.”

Assassin's Creed 3 Coming to the Wii U (Credit: Nintendo/Ubisoft)

Yesterday’s shock profit announcement, that saw Nintendo announce a loss of $351 million in the first have of the financial year, should be too much of a concern for the company. Early sales predictions pit the Wii U at 5.5 million units sold, and add to that the prediction that software sales for the console will be around 24 million units all before March 13. Leading retailer GameStop announced last week that they had taken 250,000 Wii U pre-orders in the USA alone.

I hope you are all as enthralled with Dishonored as I am? If you have continued reading past this sentence then I am going to assume you are. I have to admit it took me a while to get into the swing of it. I’ve never been very good at stealth games, being way more of a vanguard player myself, but getting the high chaos ending spurred me into having another go.

I am now on my second play-through, and I have to admit, I am doing much better. The lovely people at Bethesda have announced today a little Christmas treat for all of us Dishonored fans. Coming out in December, Dishonored will see a lovely 10 map DLC each containing a different set of challenges. Bethesda described these as either wave of enemies, time challenges, and assassinations against the clock.

Screenshot from Dishonored (Credit: Arkane Studios)

A second and third DLC for Dishonored is due to arrive in the Spring time next year and will focus on Daud, the supernatural assassin responsible for killing the Empress in the game. We don’t yet know how much these pieces will cost, but the Dunwall City Trials, this first piece of DLC will cost around 5 bucks or 400 MSP.

There still might not be an official release date but Rockstar are still finding loads of other ways to keep us on tenterhooks for their next GTA release Grand Theft Auto 5. We’ve had a flurry of screenshots in recent weeks, but now the British developers have seen fit to release their first piece of official artwork.

The image is called “Pest Control” and actually shows a scene that we saw before in the official GTA 5 release trailer. It’s the scene where armed, masked men emerge from a white transit van. Apart from releasing this image, Rockstar have further whetted our appetites by implying that there will be a lot of juicy information to come over the next few weeks.

Pest Control - Artwork from Grand Theft Auto 5 (Credit: Rockstar)

This slow drip is characteristic of the developers Rockstar, who never seem to fear that by releasing information slowly over a long period of time will lead to apethy and fatigue from their fanbase. I guess they feel their fans are much too loyal for that. The latest prediction for a release date for GTA 5 comes from analysis of the game’s publishers Take Two Interactive. A look into the companies profit predictions implied that the game has a fair chance of launch before the end of the financial year. That’s March 31st for those of us who aren’t so good with accounting.

Whenever Grand Theft Auto 5 is released, it’s bound to make quite a splash when it arrives.

I’m not sure how many controllers have gone through TV screens as a result of this game, but I’d be prepared to bet real world money on at least some.

That hasn’t stop people flocking to it in their droves. These people have now been rewarded for their perseverance with even more shiny, scary content. Atorias of the Abyss, the newest DLC offering from Namco Bandai the game’s developers, will add new maps, boss characters and other cool items according to the official statement below:

“Dark Souls’ add-on, Artorias of the Abyss gives you access to new maps and environments, boss characters, enemies and non-playable characters, weapons and armour, an additional challenging content for stalwart heroes to face and an online match-making feature for co-op or player vs. player gameplay, allowing gamers to showcase their skills against other Dark Souls players around the world. ”

The content will cost 1200 MS Points (£10.28) on Xbox 360 and £9.99/€12.99 on PS3, it weighs in at 350.57 MB on Microsoft’s console and is available right now. So what are you waiting for?

According to the official blurb: Medal of Honor – Warfighter tells the story of US Tier 1 Operator, Preacher as he returns home from overseas only to find his family torn apart from years of deployment (including his time spent as a member of AFO Neptune in MoH 2010).

Trying to pick up the pieces to salvage what remains of his marriage, Preacher is reminded of what he’s fighting for – family. But when an extremely deadly explosive (PETN) penetrates civilian borders and his two worlds collide, Preacher and his fellow teammates are sent in to solve the problem. They take the fight to the enemy and do whatever it takes to protect their loved ones from harm.

In anticipation for today’s launch, EA have decided to show fans what they could be playing by releasing a gameplay footage from the single-player campaign. It’s all been a little quiet on the Medal of Honor – Warfighter front from the industry, with many reviewers – including us – having to wait until launch day to play the game in order to download they absolutely enormous launch day patch.

But never fear, the content will be here in GameBandits over the next few days, it’s just an excuse for on of our editors to stay up all night drinking energy drinks and playing the game. It’s a hard-knock life sometimes isn’t it?

Anyway, check out the video and tell us what you think in the comment section below.
