MLB 2K12, also known as Major League Baseball 2K12, is a video game that simulates baseball and that has been granted proper licensing by the MLB. 2K Sports is responsible for publishing this title, which is available this coming March 6, 2012. The game will be made available to all major platforms, such as the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 as well as the DS, PS2 and Wii. In a way, the game is special because it will be the PS2’s very last game. John Kruk, Steve Phillips and Gary Thorne provide the commentary for the video game. Detroit Tigers’ Justin Verlander, meanwhile, is the athlete chosen to grace the cover of the game’s packaging. He has also been promoting the game in person and through the video ads that sometimes feature his animated/virtual self playing baseball.
The gameplay has been improved to provide gamers not just a better virtual baseball experience but also with more control of what is going to happen. The overall gameplay is better but there is a particular focus on the throwing and hit distribution systems. The AI is also better this time around and for greater realism, the commentary is developed further. Also for realistic gameplay, the dynamics between the pitcher and the hitter is better exhibited providing you with choices and requiring techniques as if you are playing real life baseball. But that is the point of sports simulation games, anyway.
