Mass Effect 3: Understand Power Combinations: Biotic Power Combos

When playing Mass Effect 3, you will be introduced to several power combinations that you have not encountered before. You are, however, more likely to encounter them through the multiplayer because the particular mode basically tells you what or who can kill which enemy.

You will easily spot Biotic combos. You will see bodies being flung into all sorts of directions or be dazzled by huge blue explosions. Compare this with the subtler tech combos, which may not even be recognized for having been responsible for downing an enemy.

So what does the game do with the combo explosions, whether they be biotic or fire/cryo?

With biotic explosions, you can hit the enemy with warp. Then, the enemy is hit with a throw. The throw will not cause damage directly but it will be able to force damage, in which case calculations are done differently. The biotic explosion will then be triggered but also not causing damage directly. However, it will get credit for downing or killing the enemy.

With fire/cryo explosions, you can hit the enemy with incinerate. Then, the enemy will be hit with an overload, causing its death. So, the overload gets the credit for the particular kill. Then, a fire explosion will be triggered, killing an enemy nearby. So, that fire explosion will be getting a credit for that kill.

Here are the biotic power combinations:

•    Lift Grenade –> Warp, Throw, Shockwave, Charge, Nova, Cluster Grenade, Reave
•    Pull –> Warp, Throw, Shockwave, Charge, Nova, Cluster Grenade, Reave
•    Reave –> Warp, Throw, Shockwave, Charge, Nova, Cluster Grenade
•    Shockwave (only with Rank 6 Lifting Shockwave enhancement) –> Warp, Throw, Charge, Nova, Cluster Grenade, Reave
•    Singularity –> Warp, Throw, Shockwave, Charge, Nova, Cluster Grenade, Reave
•    Stasis –> Warp, Throw, Shockwave, Charge, Nova, Cluster Grenade, Reave
•    Warp –> Throw, Shockwave, Charge, Nova, Cluster Grenade, Reave
