The Elder Scrolls 5 – Skyrim: Tips on Finding a Horse
In the Skyrim world, there are two main ways in which you can get hold of a horse: legally or illegally.
Within the Law:
If you want to keep things legal, you can find horses in city stables. Take note that every major city owns a stable. There, horses are being sold at 1000 gold coins each. All you need to do is approach the seller and the pay him the right amount. He will show you where your new horse is.
There are other legal ways in which you can get a horse. Stable owners and other people who may give you a horse as a gift during quests they have given you.
You may also win a fight with Hogfrir. He will try to sell you a horse. Say no then ask to borrow it.
Yet another way of getting a horse is to go to Katla’s farm where you can help Katla with the chores and then harvest crops.
Against the Law:
You may also decide to get hold of a horse illegally because 1000 Gold Coins can be quite a lot. You may want to steal a horse, instead. However, the guards will know about what you did and a 50 gold bounty will be placed on your head. Make sure that you don’t get caught. If you do then you have the pay the assigned penalty. You also lose your stolen horse. If you are able to get away then you only need to worry if you go back to the town where you committed the crime.
