Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 3: Optical Weapon Attachments
To improve your skills and weapons in Modern Warfare 3, you need some weapon attachments. To help you out, here is a list of weapon attachments, where they should be used and what they can do:
Optics
Iron Sights
- Can be used on assault rifles, LMGs, machine pistols, shotguns, SMGs
- Default sight for any weapon
- Will take experimentation to discover which are difficult or easy to use
Red Dot Sight/Holographic Sight
- Can be used on assault rifles, LMGs, machine pistols, shotguns, SMGs
- Very simple; choose either single red dot or custom red sight
ACOG Sight
- Can be used on assault rifles, LMGs, SMGs, sniper rifles
- Provides extra zoom when targeting
- At medium range, assault rifles and LMGs best benefit
- Sniper rifles with faster firing mechanisms work well with ACOG
- SMGs will not do well at medium range
Hybrid Sight
- Can be used on assault rifles
- Combines benefits of Red Dot and ACOG
- Slightly lower ADS

HAMR Scope
- Can be used on SMGs
- As with the Hybrid Sight, you can toggle between Red Dot and ACOG
- Slower ADS
Must use with powerful SMG
Thermal
- Can be used on assault rifles, sniper rifles
- Same Zoom level as ACOG
- Uses thermal imaging for spotting enemies at medium range even in dark environments, even in smoky ones
- Slow to sight
Must hold breath to maintain accuracy
Variable Zoom Scope
- Can be used on sniper rifles
- Upgraded version of default sniper rifle scope
- Allows different levels of zoom
- Must hold breath to maintain shooting accuracy
